The Tube

The Tube *+*+*MOVED TO AUGUST 2ND, FROM AUGUST 1ST*+*+* The Tube is one of the other caves mentioned in the Rollins book in the Moose Mountain area. There is also a helpful trip report with photos and map here on the forum from 2024, courtesy of Liam O'Sullivan. The Tube was discovered almost 50 years ago in 1977, and is a simple 125m-short cave in Moose Mountain with plenty of fun crawl-passage. This cave doesn't require any SRT skills or equipment. Only standard WNS-sanitized caving gear is required (helmet, headlamp, backup light source, coveralls, kneepads, gloves, etc) and elbow pads may be a good idea too as most of the cave is crawling passage. The plan is to meet at the parking lot for Canyon Creek Ice Cave on Sunday August 2nd at 9:15am, and begin cycling along Canyon Creek Rd for the cave at 9:30am. It takes around an hour to get there by bike, plus about 10-15 minutes of scrambling up to the cave. After a break for lunch and changing into caving gear, we'll enter the cave around 11:15am. Time spent in the cave depends on how long people want to stay and look around for. After leaving the cave, it is a quick downhill scramble and bike ride down to the parking lot that can be done in about a half hour or less. This cave is good for beginners who are looking for more caving experience as well as anyone else who wants to come along for a fun day of caving.
